A Proud Legacy

Armco Park has a rich history tied to the American Rolling Mill Company (Armco)'s Middletown Works, a major steel manufacturer in the region (now known as Cleveland Cliffs).  Established in the 1960's, the current location was the second of Armco's parks in the local area that were acquired for the exclusive use of the company's employees (Miami University Middletown now occupies the site of the first Armco Park).

In 2008, the park was acquired from AK Steel and preserved for public use through a cooperative effort of the Warren County Commissioners, Warren County Park District, Turtlecreek Township, Otterbein Senior Life, and the State of Ohio.  The park's history predates Armco, being home to Native American earthworks (currently inaccessible to the public) and a Shaker religious community from the early 1800's that eventually became the Otterbein Home.  A Shaker cemetery still exists on the site.
